PGA GOLF PROFESSIONAL

With over 30 years of experience in the golf industry, Carl Koons has established himself as one of the premier teaching professionals in the game.

A member of the PGA of America, Carl has a proven track record of transforming golfers of all levels into champions.

After playing junior and college golf, his professional career began at The Country Club of Fairfax in Virginia as an assistant golf professional under the legendary PGA Pro, Mr. Melvin Rowe.

He was offered the position of Director of Golf at Fredericksburg Country Club in Virginia where he spent 28 years developing the golf program and coaching athletes.

He recently moved to Granbury, Texas with his wife to be near their two daughters and their families.

Carl believes in a personalized approach to instruction, tailoring lessons to fit each student's unique swing and goals.

He believes in building a strong foundation rooted in the classic master swings, while continuously evolving with the latest insights provided by modern swing analysis technology.

His PGA based coaching educations has taken him across the country attending seminars with a number of Golf Digest Top 50 Instructors.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND ACCOLADES

PGA Lifetime Achievement Award:  Recognized for exceptional dedication to the PGA and the sport of golf, helping athletes reach their goals by finding their authentic swing.

Coaching Champions:  Mentored numerous players who have gone on to win state, national, and world titles.

Before moving to Texas from Virginia, Carl worked with Jon Hurst for twenty years, a prominent golfer in Virginia who has achieved significant success, especially in amateur golf.

Hurst holds multiple VSGA Victories: His Senior Amateur win in 2025 was his 11th all-time VSGA victory.

This places him among the top 10 most winning players in VSGA history.

Carl has also had the pleasure of coaching Grace Ann Braxton, a Virginia Hall of Fame golfer who boasts three medals over the years competing in the Special Olympics for golf.

She took home gold at the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle. In 2007 and 2011, she was the top-rated female Special Olympics golfer in the world.
